My name is David Middleton, and I have run Third Owl as an experiment for many years, primarily as a sandbox for work I have done supporting other blogs and WordPress instances, but also as a means of trying out how different online systems and services can be integrated.
Recently, I have decided to reinvent Third Owl as a Central Terminal for my online presence wherein I can voice my opinions and views on a variety of topic, but primarily on New Media, Social Media, Mobile and higher education.
I have been involved in educational technology since 2001, and have held various positions in differing levels of responsibility over that time. My particular interest has been the creative and purposeful application of technology to create new and innovative teaching, learning and living opportunities for students and faculty across higher education. I have had the opportunity to work with many talented people from a large number of organizations, and as a result I have a broad spectrum of experience with technology, from Learning Management Systems to Enterprise Resources Systems, from desktop and web Application Development, to Mobile device development and strategy.
Recently, I have been involved in strategic development of enterprise scale mobile deployments and development, and in that capacity, have been interested in the growing tie between mobile technology and social media. I plan to primarily share my thoughts and reactions to developments in these two fields and the link between them as it applies to education in this space.

On the personal front, I’m a husband and the father of four amazing children. Since I love mobile and gadgets etc. and use these to record aspects of my life, you’ll probably see a fair amount of pictures and clips of my family here. I’ll also pepper it with mobile news and opinions, general tech information and thoughts and other things I find interesting or funny.
